FAQs

  • Nope! Every ring that I design is taken to a professional casting studio that works in a variety of metals. Solid gold or gold plated are also options.

  • Yes! There is a form under “Customs” that you can fill out to request a custom piece made by me. I do not accept all requests, although I am always open to discussing and revising concepts.

  • There are many factors that influence the cost of a custom ring. Material used, ring size and the design. I will provide you with an approximate quote when you submit a custom request form. Price is also dependant on the current market price of the metal being used.

  • I use a method called “lost wax casting”. I create my designs either from scratch using a hard wax or from hard wax tubes. The wax is then filed, melted, carved etc. before it’s taken o be professionally cast. Once I have my designs back in metal, that’s when the real magic happens! Aka, I sand, polish and/or set any gemstones.

  • Yes! If your residence is outside of the listed options I ship to, please let me know and I will add it to the list.

  • Unfortunately, I do not offer repairs. Bolder is all about making a statement and that means focusing on doing what gives me the most creative freedom – which is currently making as many funky pieces as possible.

about bolder

bolder came to be when I seriously stopped and asked myself what I would do to make money if I could do what would make me happiest; which I acknowledge with great privilege. I am completely self taught using the wax method, and do not consider myself a silversmith or traditional jeweller, but rather a jewelry designer and ‘maker’ (as the wonderful maker, Tim, puts it). I’ve always adored jewelry and working with my hands in creative ways, but my first experience making jewelry from scratch and beginning to learn what it’s all about was in a workshop by Tim in Emerald Beach, NSW – Australia.

The name bolder is inspired by the ‘boulder’ opal, which is my favourite gemstone. I enjoy that it has a double meaning maybe not to everyone who comes across the name, but to myself.
